The BGSU
Interfraternity Council

Who we are

The Interfraternity Council is the representative body of Bowling Green's 17 men's social fraternities.  With a fraternity system comprising over 700 men, IFC is one of the largest student organizations on campus, as well as one of the oldest.  Every year, the council does multiple community service projects and philanthropies.  The council has its own code of conduct and governing body.  IFC's aim is to collectively work for the advancement and best interest of the fraternity system as a whole.  The council is also active in collaborating with Bowling Green's three other Greek councils as well as numerous other student organizations and offices on campus including the Resident Student Association, the Athletic Department, and the Office of Campus Activities.

Among the council’s activities, IFC works with the Panhellenic Council each semester on the Breakfast of Champions where Greeks can get free breakfast the Sunday before finals week each semester.  IFC and Panhel, along with the health center and Bacchus Gamma do party smart every fall.  Party Smart is an event intended to raise awareness of alcohol abuse and to show people safe ways to have fun.  Each spring, the council works with Bowling Green’s three other councils to put on Greek Week.  Greek Week is a week predominantly focused on philanthropic projects which different fraternities and sororities put on for the Greek, as well as university community as a whole.

The council hosts numerous round tables throughout the school year for different positions within fraternities to get them into contact with Greek Affairs staff, and also their counterparts in other fraternities and sororities.  IFC provides assistance in programming and workshops for recruitment and scholarship.
